Mrs. Silapasuai Rawisaengsun, Permanent Secretary for BMA, said that the BMA had directed all district offices to conduct on-site inspection at every construction site and worker camp and notify them to comply with the preventive measures: providing screening test before entering construction area, providing of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, directing all workers to wear face masks, sanitizing the areas, keeping physical distancing and separating their personal belongings, all measures were implemented since mid April 2020.
The BMA had conducted active case finding in worker groups by collaborating with construction managers in Bangkok area and implementing BKK COVID-19 system for screening the workers who have a high risk of contact with the disease. If any workers fall ill or are at high risk of infection, they will receive a screening test or be transferred for treatment. Currently, there are 49,728 workers who already received screening tests with BKK COVID-19 system.
For the risk evaluation to cover the highest target group, the BMA had directed district offices to hasten coordinators of construction sites and worker camps to conduct screening test on every worker, including the workers who reside at borders between provinces and commute to work at sites in Bangkok area.
Moreover, the BMA also collaborated with related agencies for inspection of large construction sites in Bangkok area and their worker camps to advise them about personal sanitation in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
