It should be noted that health events are taking place within the framework of the implementation of the order of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the order of the city health department “On conducting “catch-up” immunization in Bishkek in the conditions of COVID-19” with the financial support of GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization).
Immunization is the process of administering a vaccine by which a person becomes immune to an infectious disease. Vaccines stimulate the body’s own immune system to protect a person from a related infection or disease. Immunoprophylaxis is carried out on the basis of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Immunoprophylaxis of Infectious Diseases”.
Vaccine prophylaxis within the framework of the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations is carried out against 12 vaccine-preventable infections (tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, viral hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, measles, hemophilic infection type b, pneumococcal, rotavirus infections, epidparotitis).
Thanks to the preventive vaccinations carried out for the past 15 years, no cases of diphtheria, poliomyelitis, tetanus have been registered in Bishkek. In 2020, no cases of rubella and diphtheria were registered.
There is a decrease in the incidence of vaccine-preventable infections:
- the incidence of measles has decreased by 4.9 times (in 2020, 144 cases were registered against 707 cases in 2019);
- the incidence of whooping cough has decreased by 4 times (in 2020, 78 cases were registered against 319 cases in 2019);
- the incidence of mumps has decreased by 17.7 times (in 2020, 27 cases were registered against 516 cases in 2019)
