BMA COLLABORATES WITH MINISTRY OF PUBLIC HEALTH TO DETERMINE COVID-19 PREVENTION GUIDELINES IN SCHOOLS
On 9th June 2020, Pol.Lt.Gen. Sopon Pisuttiwong, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, presided over the meeting of the BMA’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, No. 57/2020.
As the situation of the spread of COVID-19 in Bangkok area has gradually become better, the Governor of Bangkok agreed to readjust the meeting day, which has been originally held every day at 13.00 hrs., to be on Tuesdays and Fridays and the meeting day is subject to change as deemed appropriate.
Currently, there has been no report of the new confirmed case of COVID-19 in Bangkok area for 19 consecutive days. If no new patients have been found for 28 days in a row, disease protection measures can be further eased. However, even there is no report of new patients in Bangkok area, the BMA still urges all related agencies to always keep inspecting and providing advice to business establishments as well as having public relations campaign to make people aware of the need to continue to comply with all health measures and do not get their guard down. The BMA wishes to remind everyone to keep good personal hygiene, wear surgical masks, practice social distancing, wash hands regularly and avoid sharing items with others.
Regarding the reopening of all schools for the new semester, the BMA’s Medical Service Department is in the process of collaborating with the Ministry of Public Health to come up with COVID-19 prevention guidelines in schools and the conclusion on this matter is expected to reach within this week. Once the decision of the practical guidelines is made, the BMA’s Health Department will held a meeting and have discussion with the BMA’s Education Department to further determine the COVID-19 prevention guidelines for the BMA’s affiliated schools.
