LJUBLJANA [New Measures]

Pedenjped Kindergarten workers are sewing protective masks

The distress of medical workers over the lack of personal protective equipment has touched the workers of Pedenjped Kindergarten, prompting them to start sewing masks.

The instigator of the sewing campaign is Irena Kos, head of the health and hygiene regime at the kindergarten and governor of the Rotary Club Association in Slovenia and North Macedonia.

The kindergarten’s workers, at home due to the current circumstances and having the means for sewing, have gladly accepted the challenge and already started making masks. They found the materials at the kindergarten and have been helped by the Rotary Club Association of Slovenia. Irena Kos, the instigator of the campaign, has emphasised: “We must start to rely on our own strengths and everyone should help as best they can. The world has truly become a global village and the concern for our fellow human beings should be guiding principle.” She has added that nobody expected that the virus would connect us in a different way, or that we would feel camaraderie, valour and love in a way none of us have likely felt them before.

Other Ljubljana kindergartens are joining Pedenjped’s campaign.
